It’s no surprise I love to spend time in my garden in all seasons. But when Spring is nearing I especially start thinking about what I want to grow, add, or create. My dreams start sprouting and coming alive in my mind. That’s when I have to get them drawn out and written down before they are lost.

I used to LOVE organizing! Really, it was fun making lists and plans and checking ( I mean crossing them off, if your a planner, you know) them off. With each baby I’ve had over the years, the good Lord broke me and molded me to relax more. I’ve had to come to the realization to let some of that go. I can’t organize and make everything perfect, that’s truly unrealistic. I know it’s only molded me for the better, though.

I’ve tried a lot of new things I maybe would not of. My husband has helped push me to reach new goals and try things without plans. I do really still like details (the running joke with my husband, Les, “DETAILS MATTER”.) But,I for sure just go with it more often though and let things flow way more naturally these days.

Homeschooling with many moments of mini unintended breaks throughout our day to throw laundry in, nurse my little 10 month old, Mayla, do the never ending dishes, or to stop and read a book to our 4 year old Emmett, all the subjects outside of that, and many other moments like these. They are all moments I live for, but I also know myself, and know I like some organizing when it comes to the special parts of our home. Even though it’s not as practical in this season with many young ones. Especially spaces that you use all the time and where the whole family can get joy from.

The garden is one of those.

So I do my best to take moments to prepare for those coming garden projects. When ideas and thoughts come to mind, I keep my garden journal near so I can get it down fairly quickly no matter what is keeping my attention during the day.

What to expect in the simple garden journal ebook

With all that said above! I do still enjoy having a plan for the garden, but its a flexible one, and I’m usually expecting some of my plans to change or evolve as the year goes by. And I actually think that’s great!

A few years ago I found my favorite way to record our garden: Grid Paper (or dot paper works nice also.) I love drawing everything out and identifying what we have and then drawing out new items we’d like to add in the spaces.

A lot of chicken scratching and not fancy at all, but a sample of me working on plans for our raised garden beds we are planning this spring.

IF your looking for a simple guide to help you do the same. Think about signing up on my home page or side bar right now with your name and email and you will receive this small gift from me to download the PDF link to print this pretty and simple 12 page (+ a bonus page) E-book. It will be in your hands in a matter of moments (make sure the printer has paper!)

It has grid pages to draw on, a guide on how to use the pages with some check off lists, a goals page, lines for flowers, vegetables, gardening tools, and a note page to make it even more your own. It’s really exactly what it’s called. SIMPLE.

If your in a busy season, I hope this can help you keep your ideas in one little place. And close by! Grab yourself a cute rose gold paper clip, fancy from target, or don’t, and just staple the ebook. But, DO build yourself a garden, whether it’s a tiny balcony garden or something quite larger on some acreage. Maybe you have multiple gardens. But whichever it is, make it a space you want to enjoy and can continue to build onto every year. It will bring you, your family, and guests so much JOY!
